Residents Hold First Juneteenth Celebration at PVN

A group of more than 50 residents gathered for lunch and a celebratory program commemorating Juneteenth as the second year of it being a federally-recognized government holiday.

Designed to unite, educate and and celebrate freedom, Dr. Tamara Thomas and Dr. Kenyatta Lovett were the program’s inspiring speakers and Presbyterian Village North (PVN) resident Chuck Lee provided the introduction and blessing.

Dr. Thomas is a well-known Chiropractor, Minister, author and business woman. She began her education at North Texas State University and continued at Texas Chiropractic College where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While practicing chiropractic medicine, she started her own Ministry Network in 2004, opened her own counseling service “Winning Choices Anger Management” in 2007 and since 2011 has hosted her own television show entitled “View from the Pew”. Dr. Thomas has served as pastor of Faith Covenant Fellowship for 16 years.

During her presentation, she shared the history of Juneteenth and how it has personally affected her and her family.
