St. Patrick’s Students Bring a Morning of Kindness to PVN

St. Patrick’s Catholic School brought a bright burst of joy to Presbyterian Village North (PVN) this Fall during the school’s Day of Kindness. What started as a last minute change of plans became a meaningful morning for both the 44 sixth graders and the Assisted Living residents who welcomed them.

The connection came naturally. PVN’s Catholic Deacon is from St. Patrick’s parish and one of the students who visited has a grandfather who lives at PVN. With those ties in place the school reached out and PVN gladly opened its doors.

The students were divided into four small groups of 11 students each with an adult leader. Then PVN’s community life team paired every student with a resident so each visit felt personal. The students were prepared with simple questions about childhood memories occupations and grandchildren. The conversations grew from there turning into shared stories laughter and a few surprises.

By the end of their visit the students were on their way back to school but the glow they left behind lingered proving that a small shift in plans became a gift for everyone involved proving that kindness often finds its way exactly where it is needed most.
