Presbyterian Village North (PVN) residents once again showed what a caring community looks like. Led by resident Dave Driscoll and supported by the PVN Village Council, this food drive grew out of a growing awareness of food insecurity across the nation and the strain on the SNAP program. The effort brought kindness and purpose to every building on campus.
The drive supported Feed Lake Highlands, a local nonprofit that serves neighbors who are living on fixed, limited or low incomes. Every Wednesday the organization feeds more than 450 people, providing more than 5,000 meals each week. Food Distribution Manager Karis Pickens shared that approximately 20 to 25 percent of residents in the Lake Highlands area are living below the poverty level. By the end of 2026, Feed Lake Highlands expects to serve more than 30,000 individuals.
Donations were collected from November 18 to December 5 at drop boxes placed throughout the PVN community. Residents filled the bins with cereal, canned meats, mac and cheese, pasta, personal hygiene items and other essentials. Teammates and residents then gathered the more than 500 pounds of donated food and loaded it into the Feed Lake Highlands van for distribution to those in need in the coming weeks.
The community extends its thanks to everyone who took part. Their generosity will brighten the season for many people in the area.
