Volunteers Make Valentine’s Day Extra Sweet for PVN Assisted Living Residents

Local students Onabella and Lola Diggs, as well as a group of 20 employees of CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP (CLA), set out to spread love through handmade cards and treats created especially for the assisted living residents at Presbyterian Village North (PVN) on Valentine’s Day.

Neither of these groups are strangers to donating their time to support and encourage seniors; in fact, this marks the third consecutive year Lola and Onabella have provided similar surprises to the residents of PVN. CLA also makes creating handmade cards and gifts tradition by sending them to various senior living communities in the DFW area annually. PVN residents were the lucky recipients this year.

“I want [the seniors] to be happy, and I want them to know that someone cares about them,” said Lola. “It’s the thought that counts,” said Onabella. “By thought, I mean, I hope they know that we are thinking about them.”

“CLA has a deep passion of serving clients within the senior living and care industry. We recognize that loneliness and isolation are serious issues affecting the overall health of the elderly and as a team we wanted to do our part to spread some joy. That’s why we chose to make Valentine’s Day cards and goody bags for the residents at PVN. We hope to spread joy and remind the residents they are loved and cared for whether it be by PVN and Forefront Living teammates, or their industry partners at CLA.” Rahim N. Habib, CPA, CLA Principal, said.

Between the two groups, more than 100 handmade cards and 60 goody bags were assembled and handed out to residents on Valentine’s Day.
