PVN receives Healthy Senior Living Certification

American Heart Association certification recognizes PVN’s commitment to quality

Presbyterian Village North (PVN) has received Healthy Senior Living certification from the American Heart Association. The certification recognizes the community’s commitment to creating a culture of health for its residents where getting and staying healthy is top of mind and PVN is currently the only senior living community certified in the Texas.

Healthy Senior Living certification is an assurance that our community has been vetted and is recognized by the American Heart Association based on professional evaluation criteria designed by cardiac and geriatric experts.

The Healthy Senior Living program seeks to work with independent and assisted living communities to help guide them towards improved health and quality of life for their residents by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to develop a well-defined wellness program,” said Cory W. Woods, DNP, MHA, MSN, RN, Assistant Chief Clinical Officer and Senior Vice President of Population Health for Rockport Healthcare Services. “We’re pleased to have Presbyterian Village North join the national network of American Heart Association Healthy Senior Living Center communities.”

PVN earned the certification after evaluation by the American Heart Association’s Healthcare Certification program on how they educate residents and provide opportunities to work toward improved health in these health categories: smoking status, physical activity, healthy diet and weight, depression and anxiety, sleep, stress management, alcohol consumption and immunizations.

“PVN is proud to receive this certification from the American Heart Association,” said Dustin Allen, PVN’s Executive Director. “The tools and resources provided by the American Heart Association will help us continue to provide education and opportunities for our residents to work toward improved health, every day.”
