Honoring Those Who Served: PVN Celebrates Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, Presbyterian Village North (PVN) gathered to celebrate the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country. The ceremony, held in McGowan Auditorium, brought together residents, students and teammates for a heartfelt tribute to our nation’s veterans.

The program began with introductory remarks by Dustin Allen, Executive Director, followed by the Presentation of Colors by JROTC students from Plano East Senior High School. Gary Fox, Director of Spiritual Life, led the invocation, setting a reflective and respectful tone for the morning.

Students from the Bezos Academy performed a special piece titled Veterans Day, adding youthful energy and gratitude to the ceremony. Resident veterans then shared personal reflections on their service, including John Birkner (Air Force), Roger Alexander (Navy), John Ruth (Marines) and Frank Goode (Army), offering attendees a glimpse into their experiences and dedication.

The Armed Forces Medley honored each branch of the military, including the Coast Guard, Space Force, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army. The celebration concluded with a stirring musical tribute—America the Beautiful and God Bless America—performed by Air Force veteran Jerry McSpadden, accompanied by Ellen Hart.

In addition to the ceremony, a special Veterans Wall is on display in the Corrigan Commons. This display was lovingly created by Community Life teammates using submissions from PVN residents. The wall showcases personal stories, photos and memories, providing a meaningful and lasting tribute to the veterans in the PVN community.
