The Longest Day is the day with the most light, also known as the summer solstice. It’s the day the Alzheimer’s Association calls upon everyone to fight against Alzheimer’s disease by raising funds and awareness towards care, support and research. On Wednesday, June 21, Presbyterian Village North (PVN) is participating in The Longest Day by holding campus-wide events to help stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s.
To kick off Alzheimer’s Awareness month, PVN residents had the opportunity to shop for good at a “Kendra Gives Back” event on June 8. Residents signed up to shop at this special Kendra Scott Pop Up event, with twenty percent of all purchases benefiting PVN’s efforts for the Alzheimer’s Association of North Texas. In addition, residents and teammates had the opportunity to purchase The Longest Day t-shirts for $15, with $6 from every shirt directly benefiting the cause. To date, more than $3,400 was raised. The Longest Day t-shirts are still available for purchase. For more information, please contact Aimee Barresi, PVN Community Liaison.
On June 21, residents and teammates had the opportunity to participate in the “Any Way, Any K” PVN campus 5K. That morning, festivities kicked off at 9 a.m. with a warmup led by the PVN Wellness Team. The day also featured a festive wheelchair parade, fundraising bake sale, gourmet popsicles and a competitive cornhole tournament. The Longest Day ended with celebrations in all areas of PVN.
Together, the strength of our light will outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s!
