On February 13, the ladies of Presbyterian Village North (PVN), festively dressed in shades of red and pink, gathered in the Reflections Private Dining Room for a special Galentine’s Happy Hour to celebrate female friendships. The popular event, with more than 70 residents in attendance, kicked off with a fun “Gal Pal” icebreaker where residents matched up with their famous female pairing or group (i.e. Lucy and Ethel, Cagney and Lacy, the Spice Girls or the ladies of Steel Magnolias) and then posed for a photo.
PVN’s Culinary team showcased their talents as they served specially crafted cocktails and mocktails as well as delicious sweet and savory bites for the inaugural occasion. In addition to noshing, chatting and sharing laughs, the PVN ladies showed support for other Dallas-area women by donating scarves, jewelry and handbags to benefit Attitudes & Attire, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the self-esteem of women entering the workforce and providing professional interview attire. More than 100 accessories were donated to this fantastic organization! Executive Director and Founder Lyn Berman was in attendance to accept the generous donations and also shared several moving client success stories. Lyn was invited to attend the mixer by PVN resident and gal pal Pam Altizer, an Attitudes & Attire board member. Perhaps the biggest highlight of the event was when Surrun Barnes, PVN Dining teammate, shared her personal connection to Attitudes & Attire with the group. Surrun was a client of the organization several years ago and she received encouragement, coaching and mentorship to prepare her for professional success.
At the conclusion of the Galentine’s celebration, residents took home delicious custom cookies created by Pie Felisha, long-stemmed roses (chivalrously distributed by Dustin Allen, PVN Executive Director), heart-shaped glasses and wonderful memories!
