On Tuesday, January 17, Dustin Allen, Executive Director of Presbyterian Village North (PVN) led the second in a series of resident book reviews. Nearly 90 residents attended the 45-minute session in which Dustin shared the plot and pivotal moments in Bad Blood – the harrowing inside story of how a tech start-up rooted in Silicon Valley’s fake-it-till-you-make-it culture risked the lives of millions with a blood-testing device that proved too good to be true. Written by Pulitzer-winning journalist John Carreyrou, who broke the story and pursued it to its end, this book shares the account of Theranos and its wunderkind CEO Elizabeth Holmes’ meteoric rise and epic fall from grace. Allen provided a thorough overview of the book and personal insight with the attendees.
The session ended with a lively discussion with the residents. To purchase a copy of Bad Blood, click here.
