At Presbyterian Village North (PVN), residents are making a commitment to their health and independence through non-traditional fitness classes offered right on campus and led by PVN Director of Wellness, Shannon Radford.
Twice a week, residents ranging from ages 61 to 94 meet for yoga instruction to increase their strength, improve balance and reduce anxiety. Current offerings are Yoga Fusion, an advanced session that incorporates standing and floor exercises, and Gentle Yoga Flow, which uses the support of a chair for seated and standing postures. Participating residents are enjoying these programs and can feel a difference in their overall health.
“Shannon has done a superb job in her classes! And instead of doing the same thing every time, she adds variation and changes the flow. These things have made yoga at PVN a top-quality program that enhances the lifestyle and fitness experience here,” said Sam Crowley, PVN resident and Yogi.
At PVN, residents are strengthening more than their muscles through yoga. They are maintaining independence and thriving in their golden years.
