Lisa Englander
Lisa entered senior living 16 years ago after her dad passed away from lung cancer. During the last weeks of his life, she saw how wonderfully the caregivers and then the hospice “angels” took care of her dad and her family. It was in those final moments with her dad that Lisa realized she had to make a career change from retail management to helping seniors live their best lives. She feels so blessed that through a sad time in her life came the best career move for her.
“The residents truly nourish my soul and fill my heart with joy each and every day.”
As the director of resident services, Lisa oversees the community life department, the receptionists and transportation. Most importantly, she has wonderful interactions with the independent living residents and their families. “I help them stay as independent as they can, and when that need comes for a higher level of care, I am there for the residents and their families to make those necessary changes if needed. I truly learn from my residents each day—it touches my heart when I give them a hug and they say thanks for just listening to them. I truly feel blessed that I was called to this role and am thankful every day for this opportunity to truly make each moment matter!”
Lisa is married to Steven, and they have two adult married daughters and two awesome sons-in-law who have given her the best gift: 4 gorgeous grandsons. She loves playing mah-jongg, reading, cooking, traveling, and entertaining family and friends. But her favorite pastime is playing with the grandsons whenever she can.
