PVN Residents and Teammates Partner with Our Calling to Give Back

The giving spirit was in full swing at Presbyterian Village North (PVN) last month, as residents and teammates joined forces for a heartwarming event aimed at helping Dallas’ homeless community. Organized in collaboration with Our Calling, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, the event was a testament to PVN’s commitment to service and community impact.

In the lead-up to the event, PVN held a food drive to collect supplies essential for assembling meals. Contributions poured in from residents, teammates and even community partners, demonstrating a shared desire to make a difference. With a vibrant and festive atmosphere in the auditorium, participants came together to prepare and package sandwiches, infusing each task with joy and purpose.

“We wanted to find a meaningful way to give back to our community,” shared Estee Cahani, Director of Rehabilitation for PVN. “Partnering with Our Calling allowed us to directly impact the lives of those in need while bringing our residents and teammates closer together.”

Entertainer, Marty Ruiz, happened to be in the Auditorium warming up for an afternoon performance while the packaging event took place, which added even more fun to the atmosphere as he played a variety of upbeat songs. Residents and teammates worked side by side, dancing along as they packed more than 600 lunches. By the end of the event, the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie filled the air with warmth and price.

Once the sandwich bags were prepared, representatives from Our Calling arrived to collect the donations. These sandwiches were later distributed to homeless individuals throughout the Dallas area, providing nourishment and a sense of care to some of our city’s most vulnerable.

Keeping the good vibes going, PVN had so much food left over from the food drive, they packaged it up and headed to The Stewpot to donate approximately 50 jars of peanut butter and 50 jars of jelly for them to use in the future to make sandwiches for the people they serve.

Events like this highlight the power of community and the importance of giving back. At Presbyterian Village North, the collaboration with Our Calling served not only as an opportunity to support a worthy cause but also as a reminder of the joy and connection that comes from working together to help others.
