On April 9, Presbyterian Village North’s (PVN) Wellness team brought energy and purpose together for a special event: Pump It for Parkinson’s. Held in PVN’s Lifestyle Fitness Center, this all-day initiative invited residents and teammates to take part in a nationwide effort to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and the powerful role exercise can play in managing its symptoms.
Throughout the day, four NuStep machines were constantly in motion as participants volunteered for 15-minute intervals, contributing their steps to a collective goal of 50 million steps across senior living communities nationwide.
At PVN, 26 residents stepped up to participate, contributing an impressive 36,824 total steps toward the national goal. Beyond the numbers, the event reflects the strength of community and a shared commitment to wellness, education and support.
“We were so excited to participate in the Pump It for Parkinson’s nationwide event!” said Alex Plauche, PVN Wellness Manager. “I felt as if this really brought the residents and teammates together in a fun way to raise awareness of how important it is to move our bodies and exercise. I am always in awe of how the PVN community comes together to uplift one another for important causes like this. Looking forward to more upcoming wellness events!”
By coming together for Pump It for Parkinson’s, PVN not only promoted healthy living but also helped shine a light on a condition that impacts millions – one step at a time.
