PVN hosts first-ever Gobble Hobble Wobble turkey trail to celebrate Thanksgiving

On Nov. 25 at 8:30 a.m. the life enrichment and wellness team at Presbyterian Village North held its first-ever Gobble Hobble Wobble turkey trail to celebrate Thanksgiving.

The event featured three trails. There was a socially distanced gold 5k walk, a silver mile and a bronze one-third of a mile. The residents were encouraged to “compete or complete” the trails at their own pace.

“We had some fun turkey masks [and] turkey hats to get in the Thanksgiving spirit,” said Deana Lisenby, lifestyle fitness manager. “We’re having a really great time out here. So far, so good.”

The idea for the event was given by PVN residents Ben and Sue Casey. Mr. Casey served as president of the Greater Dallas YMCA for 25 years. As part of his role, Casey shot off the starting gun in Dallas’ local Turkey Trot before joining the race himself and wanted his neighbors at PVN to experience something similar.

“Sue and I came out to enjoy this beautiful morning and to get some exercise and to have fun with all the good people here at Presbyterian Village,” said Mr. Casey. “We wanted to exercise because we’re going to have a great big Thanksgiving lunch, and we want to burn it off.”

Forty residents participated in the Gobble Hobble Wobble. The teammates at PVN separated participants into heats of 10 to practice proper social distancing.

The 2nd annual Gobble Hobble Wobble is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021.
