Each June, LGBT Pride Month lights up communities worldwide, celebrating and commemorating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride. Originating from the Stonewall riots of 1969—a pivotal series of gay liberation protests—Pride Month has blossomed into a global movement promoting LGBT rights and celebrating LGBT culture.
Presbyterian Village North (PVN) joined the festivities for a dazzling Pride-themed “Love is Love” Happy Hour on June 13. The event saw an impressive turnout, with approximately 100 residents gathering to celebrate, show support and promote love and kindness for all.
PVN is proud of being an inclusive retirement community and this inclusivity was a driving force behind hosting the Pride Happy Hour. After the success of last year’s event, PVN enthusiastically added this event to their June calendar for the second year in a row. The support was overwhelming, with many residents purchasing t-shirts and wearing rainbow colors to show their solidarity and celebrate the occasion.
PVN views itself as a trendsetter, hoping that Pride Happy Hours will one day be recognized and celebrated in retirement communities everywhere – embracing everyone and reflecting inclusivity and equality for all.
