Rick Rickman, Presbyterian Village North resident, is a devoted alumnus of Texas A&M University and was recently honored at the 47th Annual Burgess Banquet. The formal banquet was held in College Station and hosted by the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association on Friday, September 5. The event served as the perfect occasion to gather 675 guests to celebrate Aggie athletics and recognize the achievements of its past letterwinners.
Each year, since 1977, one individual has been selected to receive the Hall of Honor recognition and Rick was the 2025 recipient! This award is given to those who have made extraordinary contributions to Texas A&M athletics through personal time and service, going above and beyond that of the typical supporter.
Rick attended Texas A&M from 1966 – 1970 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance. During his time as a student, Rick served as football manager and became head student manager in his junior and senior years. The role allowed him to stay close to the game he loved and earned him a full scholarship during his last two years at the university. Supporting the athletic department has been Rick’s way of giving back for all that he gained as a student.
“I was given many life-enriching experiences and made good friends while at A&M,” Rick shared. “Over the past 45 years, I have tried to give back to A&M in response for all that it did for me and how it set me up for life. I have enjoyed staying closely connected to the athletic program and have no hesitancy to offer assistance to the athletic department when called upon.”
On Saturday, September 6, Rick and fellow honorees, including Hall of Fame athletes and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions Head Coach, were recognized on Kyle Field at halftime before a crowd of more than 100,000 fans.
