Summer Fun in Full Swing at PVN

At Presbyterian Village North (PVN), June was packed with fun-filled events and outings for independent living residents. From exciting trips around town to engaging events right on campus, there was no shortage of opportunities to connect and enjoy the summer season. Here’s a look back at some of the memorable moments that made this month extra special!

Pride

PVN celebrated Pride Month with a small outing to Hamburger Mary’s, a lively, welcoming restaurant known for great food, fun entertainment and a strong sense of inclusivity, on Saturday afternoon, June 7.

A larger group of residents and teammates enjoyed a vibrant and heartfelt event honoring the LGBTQ+ community with a happy hour on Thursday, June 26, . The afternoon was filled with joy, reflection and highlighted PVN’s commitment to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community for all.

From meaningful conversations to plenty of colorful celebration, Pride 2025 at PVN was a beautiful reminder that love, identity and belonging have no age limit.

African American Museum | Juneteenth

In the spirit of Juneteenth, PVN residents and teammates recently embarked on a meaningful outing to the African American Museum in Dallas. This visit offered a powerful opportunity to explore the rich history, art and cultural contributions of African Americans—deepening understanding and honoring the significance of freedom and resilience.

The group engaged with immersive exhibits and guided talks that illuminated the story of Juneteenth—its origins, milestones and ongoing relevance. As the only museum of its kind in the Southwestern U.S., the African American Museum provided an ideal setting for learning and celebration. Learn more about the museum here.

Texas Rangers

Last week 20 residents from PVN took a fun-filled trip to Globe Life Field to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Kansas City Royals. With first pitch at 1:35 PM, the group enjoyed an exciting day of baseball, ballpark snacks and plenty of team spirit.

The outing was a home run, filled with camaraderie and a chance to cheer on the home team in person. It was the perfect way to celebrate summer — PVN style! Catch the Texas Rangers schedule here.

The Longest Day

On Friday, June 20, residents, teammates, family members and friends of PVN came together for a special walk around Gazebo Circle in honor of The Longest Day — an annual event led by the Alzheimer’s Association to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease.

Decked out in shades of purple, the color of Alzheimer’s awareness, participants gathered with purpose. Whether walking solo, alongside a friend or with the help of a walker or wheelchair, each person took part in a gentle and meaningful stroll designed to be inclusive for all mobility levels.

The Longest Day is more than an event; it’s a movement. And at PVN, we showed that we are walking hand-in-hand toward a future filled with hope, awareness and support.

Thank you to all who walked, donated and raised awareness. Every step matters, and together, we made a difference.
