PVN Hosts third Interfaith Passover Seder: A Night of Song and Shared Reflection

On the evening of April 14, 2025, residents and team members gathered in the McGowan Auditorium for a meaningful celebration rooted in tradition, reflection and unity. Presbyterian Village North (PVN) hosted its third interfaith Passover Seder—a community-led event that brought together people of different backgrounds to commemorate the ancient story of the Exodus and the universal themes of freedom and renewal.

Spearheaded by residents Dr. Cynthia Logan and Elizabeth Ritz, the evening unfolded as both a cultural experience and a spiritual journey. The Passover Seder—often referred to as the Festival of Freedom—invites participants to retell the story of the Israelites’ liberation from Egypt, using ritual foods, scripture and song to guide the way.

Guests followed along with the Haggadah, the traditional Passover text, while learning about the symbolic elements of the Seder plate, the three covered pieces of Matzah and the joyful hunt for the hidden “afikomen.” A mix of solemn reflection and light-hearted moments gave the evening a uniquely warm and welcoming feel.

The sounds of traditional songs and the scent of a carefully prepared Passover meal—helped shape an atmosphere that felt both sacred and celebratory.

The Community and Spiritual Life teams played an essential role behind the scenes, ensuring every detail supported the heart of the gathering: connection.

As Passover reminds us of the journey from oppression to liberation, PVN remains committed to creating spaces where stories are shared, voices are honored and traditions—old and new—are celebrated together. Click here to delve deeper into Passover and its traditional Seders.
