On October 19, Presbyterian Village North (PVN) once again came alive with excitement for its second-ever disc golf tournament, building on the success of the inaugural event held earlier this year in May. The temporary course, set up on the lawn outside of the Landings Cafe, provided the perfect setting for this friendly competition that showcased both skill and community spirit.
With an even larger turnout this time, PVN residents enthusiastically took to the course, demonstrating their impressive skills. From seasoned players to first-timers, participants of all levels joined in, embodying the true spirit of disc golf: accessibility, fun and a commitment to staying active. Each throw was met with cheers and applause, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere throughout the day.
A highlight of the event was the intergenerational connection between PVN residents and a group of 9th graders from Ursuline Academy, who volunteered to assist and cheer on participants. Jackson McDonald, the grandson of PVN resident Emmitt Nelson, and a dedicated member of the Disc Golf Association, served as both an inspiration and a trainer, guiding participants through the game with encouragement and expertise. His presence underscored the inclusive nature of disc golf, uniting players of all ages in a shared love for the sport.
The PVN Community Life team, working seamlessly with all parties involved, ensured the day ran smoothly. Residents enjoyed not only the physical activity but also the camaraderie, leaving the event with smiles and a sense of accomplishment.
