What are you passionate about regarding your professional role?
Professionally, I am passionate about making personal connections. I enjoy helping patients and their loved ones navigate the admission process to our skilled nursing facility. I am so grateful for the privilege of stepping into the lives of others and being able to make a positive difference in their experience.
What is something that makes you feel proud?
I am most proud of my three sons, Timothy (age 22), Jonah (age 21) and Aidan (age 19), for their kindness and compassion towards others. Beyond their individual achievements, they are resilient young men who bring humor, love and adventure into my world. Professionally, my proudest achievement was launching a school coffee shop that provided employment opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. That café became the hub of the school, serving as a gathering space where students connected with one another.
Share about your family:
I am one of five girls born to Cuban immigrants who came to the United States in 1959, as political exiles. Growing up in Rochester, New York, my first summer in Dallas was memorable. However, I will admit that sixty-degree days in December are absolutely wonderful. Two of my sons are working towards degrees in computer science while my youngest son continues to pursue his professional gaming career as a member of Manchester City Esports in the United Kingdom. My family has been fortunate to travel the world to watch him compete. Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Germany and Saudi Arabia are just a few of the places we have visited. I would also be remiss not to mention our four-legged furry family members: Tengo and Mojo. They are Bernese Mountain/Australian Shepherd mixes that bring our family much joy, love and messes.
Tell us about your hobbies:
I enjoy travel, photography, videography and visual storytelling. The process of using imagery and music to tell a narrative that provokes thoughts and elicits emotions is a passion of mine. Taking long walks, hikes in the park and weekly board game nights are also on my list of things I enjoy.
On the weekend, you can find me:
On the weekend, you can find me outside in nature spending time with my family and two dogs. New to Texas, I like to visit local places of interest and explore outdoor trails.
What are some of your favorite foods and restaurants?
One of my favorite places to dine is Sugar Bacon in McKinney but I also enjoy Korean barbecue, where everyone becomes involved in the meal preparation. Chic-Fil-A waffle fries are hard to pass up and are one of my guilty pleasures!
I enjoy experiencing different cultures through their cuisine. Bibimbap (Korean rice dish), paella and street noodles are some of my favorite dishes to order when dining out. Once a month on a Sunday night at our home, we pick a spot on the globe and our family prepares a meal together from that region of the world. It’s a great way to learn about new cultures!
How would your friends describe you?
I think my friends would describe me as a kind, caring and genuine person and as positively curious about anything and everything. I enjoy learning and sharing with others. Life is too short, so I try to inject positivity and laughter whenever I am able.
