Positive Resident and Suspended Independent Living Visitation

Dear Residents, Family Members and Teammates,

We learned today that an Independent Living resident living at The Oaks at Presbyterian Village North (PVN) tested positive for COVID-19. This resident noticed they were having symptoms and immediately sought testing. We are happy to report that the resident is doing well despite the recent diagnosis. As the pandemic continues to escalate, we remain committed to a proactive approach to reduce exposure and spread of the virus.  In light of this we are instituting the following measures:

  • We have already begun testing of all residents of The Oaks.
  • If you are a resident of The Oaks, we ask that you quarantine in your apartment until you receive a negative COVID-19 test result. We will work with you to accommodate any special needs that you may have in the interim.
  • PVN will offer testing to all Independent Living residents by next week, and Independent Living residents in other areas of the campus who have not been tested are strongly encouraged to participate in the testing.
  • Finally, in an effort to preserve our ability to provide service and conduct small group gatherings we are suspending all outside campus visitations beginning on Monday, November 16.

We recognize this is a strong approach to managing the spread of the virus.  We also understand that each of us has a different risk tolerance.  However, our conservative approach has yielded good results throughout the pandemic.  We will continue to do our best to create opportunities for safer gatherings and the enjoyment of the quality services you all expect. In the meantime, we are encouraged by the prospects of a vaccine and grateful for the hard work and care provided by our healthcare professionals.

Know that we care deeply for our residents, patients and teammates.  As always I am available for questions through email or please contact us at pvninfo@forefrontliving .org or 214-355-9019 with further questions.
