Positive Resident and Adjustment of Services

Dear Residents, Family members and Teammates,

We received the last remaining results from the voluntary testing provided to PVN Independent Living residents on Nov. 18 and 20. We learned today that an additional resident tested positive for COVID-19.  The resident lives in an executive home and will be recuperating there. Out of about 220 independent living residents who participated in the testing, a total of four tested positive for the virus. Simultaneously, Dallas County achieved its highest number of 2,183 residents testing positive for COVID-19 on a single day this weekend.

After much consideration PVN is implementing an adjustment to services beginning tomorrow:

  • All meals from the traveling kitchen and the auditorium have been postponed. Meals will be delivered as they have been previously.
  • Beauty salon appointments will continue. Only one patron will be permitted in the salon at a time with thorough sanitation between clients.
  • Only two residents will be permitted in the Lifestyle Fitness Center and one resident in the pool at a time. Scheduling will continue via Cubigo.
  • All programming and activities will be performed virtually. Please pay attention to Cubigo for further updates on scheduling.
  • No off-campus life enrichment outings will be held during this time period.
  • Transportation will be provided for doctor appointments only.
  • All therapy appointments will occur in residents’ homes.
  • Families may still deliver items to the gatehouse. If residents need grocery pickup, please use the Tom Thumb app and select the “Skillman” location. For any questions about grocery pickup, please contact Lisa at 214-355-9023 or Letty at 214-355-9033.
  • Essential caregiver visits will continue.

We are hopeful that on Thursday, Dec. 10 we can retest our independent living residents. Depending on the results of testing, we can then revisit these measures.

Thanksgiving typically marks the beginning of the holiday season and a time when we all gather to give thanks and celebrate. We remain thankful to be part of an organization where residents and teammates work together to keep each other safe. While COVID-19 has limited our ability to gather in groups to celebrate, it has not diminished the sense of community and indomitable spirit that is the cornerstone of life at PVN.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our residents, teammates and family members recovering from COVID-19. Social distancing, mask wearing and self-awareness remain our best tools to combat the virus. Should you feel ill or experience any symptoms between now and our next testing date please call 214-355-9019. For additional questions or concerns please call the number above or email pvninfo@forefrontliving.org.

Sincerely,

Bryan Cooper
Executive Director
