Independent Living Update

Dear Residents, Family Members and Teammates,

We learned today that an Independent Living resident living at Martin’s Landing at Presbyterian Village North (PVN) tested positive for COVID-19.  This resident participated in the voluntary testing offered by PVN and was not symptomatic at the time of testing.  We are happy to report that the resident is doing well despite the recent diagnosis.  This resident made the decision to recuperate in the special COVID unit on the second floor of The Arbor House in the Health Care Center.

We share your deep concern about this situation and are in the process of investigating how this individual was exposed to the virus.  In the interim:

  • If you are a resident of Martin’s Landing, we ask that you quarantine in your apartment until you receive a negative COVID-19 test result.  We will work with you to accommodate any special needs that you may have.
  • If you are a Martin’s Landing resident and have not been tested for COVID-19, you will be contacted to arrange an appropriate time for testing.
  • Independent Living residents in other areas of the campus who have not been tested are STRONGLY encouraged to participate in the testing.

As we stated before, we are fortunate to have access to tests.  While testing is not mandatory in Independent Living, it is only through your active participation that situations like this are identified.  This allows our team to react quickly and prevent greater community spread.  We are still receiving the results of those Independent Living residents who have taken the test.  The following chart is a snapshot of where things are this afternoon:

While restrictions are easing across the state it is even more important that we adhere to our strict protocols related to social distancing, leaving the PVN campus and self-identifying when you are not feeling well.  Please contact us at pvninfo@forefrontliving.org or 214-355-9019 with further questions.

Sincerely,

Bryan Cooper, Executive Director
