On a picture-perfect afternoon in mid-October, residents, family, friends, and staff donned their yellow PVN hard hats and gathered outside Joyce Hall. They were there for the long-awaited ground breaking for the new addition to Joyce Hall. Resident Services Manager, Heather Ashby, greeted everyone and asked Rev. Carolyn Mitchell to lead in prayer. Ron Kelly, Executive Director, then gave a brief summary of Presbyterian Village North from its origin to plans for its future. Rev. Brent Ashby closed with prayer. Eight long-handled shovels awaited and soon dirt began to fly. Each resident had an opportunity to shovel and thus contribute to the beginning of another unit of one of North Dallas’ best facilities for Seniors. All were invited inside for punch, cookies, and fancy pastries.

Independent Living had its groundbreaking ceremony at 9:30 AM. The gifts from the PVN Foundation for the construction of the Cindy and Rev. Blair Monie Chapel and the Life Fitness Center were acknowledged, with thanks, by Reverend Monie and PC&S President and CEO, Godwin Dixon. A brief review of the scope of the expansion was explained and included a short history of the initial vision for PVN by some of its early pioneers.

The ceremony was well attended, and guests included occupants of the new units. A grand day for all!
