Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Screening Requirement If Leaving PVN

Dear residents and families,

Dallas County continues to report substantial COVID-19 cases, including the Delta variant. Cases of COVID-19 in fully vaccinated people, called breakthrough cases, account for more than 20% of new cases in Dallas County. In response to increasing coronavirus numbers, Texas Health and Human Services is requiring assisted living and skilled nursing communities to implement guidelines when residents leave the community with family or friends. When a resident leaves Presbyterian Village North (PVN) the risk of COVID-19 transmission is increased by factors such as a resident’s health status, the level of COVID-19 in the community or attendance at large gatherings. Residents are encouraged to discuss risks with their family and community staff.

If residents must leave our campus, it is important that they maintain social distancing, wear a face covering, avoid crowds or large gatherings and adhere to infection prevention practices while outside of PVN. We continue to encourage residents to stay connected with loved ones through in-community visits.

The guidelines require teammates to screen and interview residents and families when returning to the community to assess that guidance was followed and determine the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Residents leaving our community may be required to quarantine on return if exposed or if guidelines were not followed. Any resident who stays overnight outside of PVN is required to quarantine.

Our residents, family members and teammates are our highest priority, and we are focused on the protection and care of one another. Extra precautions taken now will help keep your loved ones healthy and safe and assist in bringing the COVID-19 pandemic to an end.
