PVN gave its annual salute to our veterans at 11:00 AM on November 11, 2014. The program was arranged by Heather Ashby, Director of Independent and Assisted Living Services, and chaired by Craig Millis. It was preceded by snacks in the Great Room at 10:30. The celebration included an invocation by Arthur Wood; a presentation of the colors by the Franklin Middle School ROTC; our Pledge of Allegiance led by Vern Muncy (a resident of Joyce Hall); the singing of the “National Anthem” by our Village Singers, accompanied by Martha Binion; the annual medley of service songs during which members of the respective services (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine, and Navy) stand; and a presentation of the Soldier’s Creed by Al Cloud.

The program also included an excellent video presentation, We Are America, by former president Ronald Reagan; a fine Tribute to Our Veterans by PVN Executive Director, Ron Kelly; a presentation of A Veteran’s Reflections by John “Lucky” Luckadoo, in which an eight-year-old girl asks a young soldier to “give some-thing to my daddy”, and a beautiful “Patriot Medley” sung by PC&S Foundation Senior Development Officer, Pam Aker King, accompanied by James McQuillen.

This salute to our veterans was considered by many to be our best ever.
